Possible Interuption of Archive Services for NRAO Users

Authors list

On Monday February 17th at 19:00 EST the National LambdaRail (NLR) research network may cease operations (they are searching for alternatives, so this is not definite). NRAO data traverses NLR via
connections through our main campus gateways at the University of Virginia and the University of New Mexico. And of course many of your institutions may be directly or indirectly reliant on NLR infrastructure.

All involved institutions are making appropriate adjustments to their networking strategy (usually by shifting to Internet 2), however time is short and little testing will be possible, so some disruptions are possible. We anticipate that a minority of users could have problems (either outright failure or much slower speeds) downloading their data through the Archive (ALMA or AAT) or other means. We do not anticipate that observing will be affected.

If you encounter such problems, please report them (nature of the problem, your computer's network location (IP address if possible)) first to your local helpdesk and then escalating to the NRAO Helpdesk by  submitting a ticket to the "Archive and Data Retrieval" Department if your problem is not local. While the problems that do arise will generally be outside of our direct control, we will work diligently with our partners to minimize the disruption and inconvenience.
